Port of Lerwick
Ferry Timetables
(Lerwick, Shetland Islands, Scotland, UK)
There is an airport on Mainland, Shetland Islands, but flights are often expensive and serve limited destinations. Ferries provide a vital link to the islands from mainland Britain and run throughout the year to and from Aberdeen.
Crossings take most of the day but onboard facilities are excellent and you can also take your car. Two companies operate from Lerwick, with Northlink providing the bulk of the services to Aberdeen and Smyril Line sailing to Denmark and the Faroe Islands.
