Port of Lerwick

Harbour Information, Terminals and Facilities
(Lerwick, Shetland Islands, Scotland, UK)

Located on the Shetland Isles, the Port of Lerwick is the main port for the Shetlands and operates year round. The port is the UK's most northern and lies at the crossroads of the North Sea and the Northeast Atlantic. The ferry terminal and port has undergone recent redevelopments and the new port, with excellent passenger facilities, now sees over 5,000 ships every year.

Lerwick port boasts a new elevated passenger walkway to better accommodate the newest roll-on, roll-off ferries.

Facilities include a café, convenience store and disabled access. Short-term and long-term parking is also available at the port.

Ferry Services

There are two main ferry services from Lerwick, with NorthLink Ferries providing access to Aberdeen twice daily. The same ferry company also calls in at Kirkwall in the Orkney Isles three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Symril Line operates services to and from Lerwick. A passenger ferry operates during the summer months from Lerwick to Hanstholm, Denmark, and to Torshavn in the Faroe Islands on the return journey from Hanstholm.
